NOT A HOTEL MIURA POOL CLUB is a self-designed project by NOT A HOTEL, distinguished by its exotic atmosphere inspired by the landscapes of the Miura Peninsula. Just 90 minutes from central Tokyo, it offers an open location where sea and sky seamlessly merge. The property features a variety of shared amenities, including three uniquely designed pools, a sauna, gym, and restaurant, allowing guests to enjoy a stay tailored to their own rhythm. Two types of accommodations are available: the CLUB VILLA, which sleeps up to eight and includes a private pool and sauna, and the CLUB SUITE, which sleeps up to four and condenses all essentials for daily living. This retreat, where nature and architecture, serenity and openness coexist in balance, serves as a new cultural landmark for seaside stays in Miura.

Shimpei Fujihara
Architect
The architectural form draws inspiration from Miura’s unique topography and layered fault lines. By echoing the uplift and shifts in the strata, the design features a dynamic, multi-level spatial composition. For example, the guest journey begins by passing through a narrow alley—reminiscent of a valley—before arriving at the expansive shared spaces, creating a sense of spatial contrast and memorable discovery. At the “CLUB VILLA,” the height differences created by staggered building volumes are utilized as private rooftop areas with fire pits. Skylights bring natural light into the bathrooms, offering changing expressions of light throughout the day. The “CLUB SUITE,” while compact at around 70㎡, features expansive ocean-facing windows that fill the space with openness. Its bathroom, designed with soft curves, allows reflected light on the water to dance across the ceiling—evoking the serene atmosphere of a secluded cave.

MIURA POOL CLUB is NOT A HOTEL’s first-ever pool club and also the first Full House with shared facilities. As one of our most ambitious projects to date, it involves a wide range of collaborators and an unprecedented scale. Designed entirely in-house, the architecture integrates seamlessly with the business vision, with careful adjustments made to ensure coherence across every detail. This project not only represents an evolution of NOT A HOTEL, but also aspires to contribute to the surrounding town, the natural beauty of the Miura Peninsula, and the landscape itself.
