NOT A HOTEL CLUB HOUSE ASAKUSA is a members-only lounge located near Tokyo’s historic Sensoji Temple, housed in a former furniture store that stood for over 50 years. The building was renovated by Keisuke Nakamura of DAIKEI MILLS.
A striking spiral staircase and open atrium span all three floors, with a custom six-meter speaker anchoring the space. Wrapped in mahogany crunch from ceiling to floor, the design centers on wood and sound, carrying forward the depth of time embedded in the building.
While retaining the atmosphere of the original furniture shop, it has been reborn as a space for people to gather, converse, and relax. The result is an architectural experience that blends warmth and richness—an oasis of quiet sophistication within the vibrant Asakusa district.

I was in charge of furniture and interior direction, working under the design of Mr. Keisuke Nakamura of DAIKEI MILLS. To realize his vision of "blending old and new," we coordinated closely with the local authorities, carefully preserving the building's original features wherever possible.
The interior design included many ambitious elements such as bookmatched mahogany crunch panels and a custom six-meter-long speaker. Despite these bold additions, the final space harmonizes beautifully with the unique atmosphere of Asakusa.
